Personal Growth
Happy Monday, Flickr friends! I was looking for a good image to start the week and saw this artist concept from 2005. This is part of a large, fascinating information/image/multimedia package at chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2005/smg/. Hope you enjoy this beauty with your morning coffee…or your lunch or dinner, depending on where you are. 🙂

This illustration shows two spiral galaxies – each with supermassive black holes at their center – as they are about to collide. Chandra results suggest that such collisions may cause extreme black hole and galaxy growth in the early Universe, setting the stage for the birth of quasars.
